Hello and welcome to The Liberation Collection (or TLC) as I’ll refer to it here on Substack. When I hear TLC, I typically think of tender loving care and honestly, that’s totally appropriate because that’s exactly what you will feel here in this community.
Just over a year ago, I published my book, The Body Liberation Project: How Understanding Racism and Diet Culture Helps Cultivate Joy and Build Collective Freedom, and so, body liberation is at the core of the work I do. However, that book only touched the surface, and there’s so much more to discuss. Of course there will be body liberation and anti-diet talk, but I will also be sharing about divorce, grief, breaking up with religion, white supremacy, my decision to be child free, joy, burning it all down and starting over, the magic of dreaming big, and so much more.
The Liberation Collective is for everyone seeking to live a truly liberated life.
I started sharing my writing and work over 5 years ago, primarily on Instagram. I had no idea where it was going to take me. I just knew I wanted to share my words, and I had the hope that they would resonate with others. Since then, I’ve been blessed to write for outlets such as Health, Shape, SELF, PopSugar, and more. My Instagram community has grown exponentially, and as much as I love interacting over there, it’s not really the place for long form content.
And so this is my place to house all of my work and a place to have true community together – where we can talk about all the deep stuff, have nuanced conversations, and experience joy as well because all of these things are part of the human experience.
